About Your Job

What inspired you to work with animals?
From early childhood I was attracted to working with pets, especially dogs. I was always fascinated by the canine world and started exploring it as early as collecting canine encyclopedias and finally having my first dog - a labrador named Bonis when I was 10 years old. I believe he was my teacher and biggest inspiration to continue working with pets.
How long have you been practicing, and what do you love most about your work?
I have been a dog groomer for almost 3 years now and what I love most is the relationship you build with every client.
What makes Coconut Pets special?
We are special in a way we provide treatment for our clients by ensuring the most comfortable sessions for every client's needs. We work with the most innovative tools and cosmetics such as the Tauro Pro line to provide the best care for pets' skin and coats. We take into account pets age, pets behavior & personality and the owners requests. So, finally we adapt our grooming techniques based on individual client needs. Our groomers team makes a collective effort to ensure the most pampered sessions for the pets and great atmosphere for their owners too,so all of them feel relaxed and comfortable in the salon where they feel spoiled like at home and much more!
Is there a particular type of animal or case that appeals to you?
All pets are very close to my heart and closest are of course rough collies.
How do you build trust and reduce stress for pets and their owners at your grooming salon?
We create a calm environment and apply special positive grooming techniques that reduce stress for pets.

What's one thing you wish more owners knew or did for their pets?
Brush their pet’s coat on a regular basis and do it in a right way. A common misconception about the grooming is that some people think it is all about beauty but the primary purpose is pet's health and hygiene.

What are the most common mistakes you see pet owners make concerning grooming?
Lack of positive introduction to a grooming process, not having a regular grooming routine, brushing dry coat, not having the right tools for grooming at home, not brushing teeth & not cleaning eyes regularly.
How can pet owners better prepare their pets (and themselves) for a grooming session?
Introduce your pet to basic grooming tools such as brush as early as possible, try to set up a regular grooming routine, ask the groomer to show and explain of how to correctly maintain and care of pets coat in between the grooming sessions
What would you say to someone who's looking for a new groomer but doesn't know where to start?
Ask for recommendations of other pet owners and visit a grooming salon to meet your groomer & see the salon first prior to booking an appointment.
What are some tips for pets in the summer?
Keep your pets cool and always check if they are well hydrated. We offer special cooling mats and portable drinking bowls plus much more on hot summer days!

Do you have pets of your own? Tell us about them!
Yes! Nika - most loving and very smart girl; Matt - happy boy, who loves to play with other dogs. The two of them look like brother and sister, and are truly inseparable.
Can you share a moment or story that reminded you why you love your job?
When we helped an abandoned dog who was neglected after his owner died. After the grooming session, the dog felt like he could finally breathe at ease and walk lightly, it was a heartbreaking moment but also rewarding when you manage to help the most vulnerable pets and they feel it.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working with animals?
Spending time with my family.
What’s something most people don’t know about being a Groomer?
You are working not only with pets but with their owners too on a daily basis, so you need to have great interpersonal communication skills for this job.
If you weren’t a groomer, what would you do?
Then, I would be a vet nurse.
